Hi-tech Poweriser Stilts Are Like Walking On The Moon!

powerister stilts  I watched a television show the other night that featured a gentleman athlete with a false leg – that was really knocking the socks of his competition – at a track meet.  It was incredible to watch this guy going full speed on an artificial leg that behaved in as natural a way as well, not at all artificial.  The technology employed appears to have been put to use, in a fashion, developing what are now called poweriser stilts.  There are similar fun items for the kids that go by the name moon shoes, kickarooos, air kicks, and so on, that aren't nearly as expensive, but surely as much fun for the younger ones.

I think it’s a lack of any other meaningful description that they’ve defaulted to being called poweriser stilts.  They’re anything but similar when you watch someone wearing them.  Pogo sticks are still fun but will always have that inherent higher level of difficulty – of having all your weight focused on a single point.  In contrast, poweriser stilts, or moon shoes, or whatever you prefer to call them, have an inherently different behavior – inherently less difficult.

Obtaining your balance is just more easily accomplished with two points of focus for your weight as opposed to one.  I should also say that for the kiddos, the less powerful poweriser stilts (or moon shoes if you prefer) just seem safer to me – inasmuch as one can be when they’re bouncing all over the place.

In contrast the high tech poweriser stilts are almost as thrilling and incredible to watch as they are to wear.   Their very design adds significant height to the user and the corresponding bounce depth strength makes summersaults nearly second nature – requiring very minimal effort.  I found a U-tube video that illustrates this rather well.

Pogo sticks still have their charm though.  For example, I haven’t seen nearly any hoopla from the Guinness folks over anyone setting any type of world record bouncing around in poweriser stilts.  There are frequent challengers to the pogo stick bounce records by comparison.    These high tech poweriser stilts aren’t for everyone though.  Don’t get a pair for your grandmother any time soon.  Remember, the higher you can potentially bounce the hard you’ll hit the ground should you fail to get your feet under you in time – so be very careful and take it slowly at first.

Take it from me, kids love to strap things to their feet for a reason.  It’s big fun.  Poweriser stilts are the newest arrival and represent a generational leap in that capacity.  They’ll never replace pogo sticks, but do represent the latest developmental efforts in high tech fun.  Need a unique Christmas gift idea for  – consider poweriser stilts!
